As you saw above, Jessica Hull completely ran out of gas and misjudged the 1500m DL final. That's when Nelly Chepchirchir blazed in and clinched the win 0.03s ahead of her. In distance events, it rarely comes this close. No wonder former 1500m champ and commentator Steve Cram called it a 'Bizarre Race.' But for Nelly, it was a much-needed comeback. She had been undefeated all through 2025. Only at the Brussels DL, she slipped to a third finish. And now she is off to the worlds, eyeing yet another redemption after she came fifth in the 2023 Worlds finals. But this year, she's looking like a strong competitor, there's no doubt about it.
