Heat 2 of the men’s 4×100m relay was full of chaos! South Africa’s lead runner, Shaun Maswanganyi got caught up when Italy’s Lamont Marcell Jacobs stumbled in the lane next to him. After being impeded by that, South Africa couldn’t finish the handoff and were out with a DNF. But after they appealed, the decision was overturned and Athletics South Africa confirmed that they’ll now get a chance to re-run their heat alone on Sunday. Their time will decide if they reach the finals. Ideally, they need to better than 38.34s to reach the final. Watch how all the drama unfolded below...

Day 8 had something for everyone.
Sprint fans had the relay heats, whereas long-distance enthusiasts were treated by the Women's 5000m Final, where Beatrice Chebet delivered a spectacular performance. She pulled off the double, winning the 5000m in 14:54.36, days after bagging the 10,000m gold too. While her Kenyan teammate Faith Kipyegon finished second today.
The two-day long event, Women's Heptathlon also had it's final today, where 24-year-old Anna Hall sealed her first international title with 6888 points. After earning bronze in 2022 and silver in 2023, she completes her Worlds set with gold and ends a 32-year American drought in the event.
Field fans were also on the edge of their seats thanks to the women’s Shot Put final today. Drama extended right to the final round as defending World Champion Chase Jackson threw a last-minute 20.21m to secure a spot back on the podium. Yet, Jessica Schilder's 20.29m was too good to be beaten and she ended up claiming the World Champion title!
