Gout Gout’s Dream International Debut!

Whenever Gout Gout's on the track, records just keep falling….. And yesterday, the Ostrava Golden Spike was no exception. The 17-year-old, in an orange tracksuit, hit the ground and didn't slow before he lowered his own Australian National record in the 200m! Yes, Gout Gout continued his win streak to win his 11th race this season. He pushed strongly in the second half to clock 20.02s and finish 0.17s ahead of the runner-up, Reynier Mena. And what’s more interesting…

This was a memorable feat for Gout Gout as it was his first senior race outside Australia, his first race ever in Europe, and his first senior win overseas! Watch the Australian’s 200m magic here! And now, with this, he has once again left behind the legend Usain Bolt....

Usain Bolt made his Ostrava international debut in 2006, taking victory in 20.28s. But Gout Gout was 0.26 seconds faster than him in the same event! Also, before the race, when Gout Gout was questioned on being compared with Bolt, he said, "Being compared to Usain Bolt feels great." Well, at just 17, he's being compared to the best sprinter ever. Obviously, Gout Gout appreciates it, as "Who doesn’t want to be Usain Bolt?"

The End of an Era…

April 10, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce dropped an update: she had some "unfinished business." Within seconds, we knew it was her final season! But were we ready for her last race on Jamaican soil this soon? Well, like it or not, the moment has come... Monday, at a Nike event, Shelly-Ann confirmed that she is heading into her FINAL Jamaican Championships appearance this week. “In the next two days, it will be my final time gracing the National Stadium." Hits like a ton of bricks, right?

But Shelly’s actually looking forward to this because, “I have absolutely nothing to lose and all to gain.” Well, of course, she’s the GOAT. But not many know how deeply she is connected to this track… After all, in 2018, Shelly-Ann was honored with a bronze statue at the Jamaican National Stadium. Also, it was at this very stadium where she ran for her first Olympic Trials. Watch Shelly-Ann’s 2008 100m run below!

But it wasn’t easy…. as even after finishing second in 10.85s, the dominant opinion was to give Shelly-Ann's Olympic spot to Veronica Campbell-Brown, because Shelly was too "inexperienced." But luckily, Shelly-Ann got her shot, and she proved worthy of it with her first-ever 100m Olympic gold in Beijing!

Now, once again, Shelly-Ann will take to this special stadium on Thursday. And if she finishes in the top three, she’ll punch her ticket to her last World Championships! And we are rooting for her!

🎖️ Beyond The Medals

Femke And Salwa, Watch Your Backs!

Yesterday, while all the focus was on Salwa Eid Naser and Femke Bol, the two biggest pros heading into the 400m clash at the Ostrava Golden Spike, Lynna Irby Jackson, a 26-year-old American, came and stole the show unannounced! Well, all three dipped sub-50 yesterday, but Jackson pulled a shocker…

On Tuesday, Jackson finished second behind Naser in 49.82s, thus handing Femke Bol a cold defeat, pushing the Dutch queen to third spot. Bol crossed the finish line 0.16s after Jackson. Watch how this American youngster defeated the 400m indoor world record holder, Bol!

But it wasn’t any child's play! After all, Jackson had to clock her fastest 400m time since 2018, which means 7 whole years. On the other hand, Bol's just getting out of an 11-month-long dry spell, with this being just her first 400 outdoor race since July 2024....But here's a bit more on Jackson that will make you want to count her in the game…

Jackson is the world's #20-ranked 400m woman. Also, she recently made headlines for having won the 400m dash at the Racers Grand Prix. And now this…..So, it looks like she is silently crawling towards that World spot. As this is a solid chance for redemption after she finished sixth at the Tokyo trials and seventh at the Paris ones. And although she does have two relay Olympic medals under her belt, this year might just be her golden ticket to her first-ever World Champs medal!
