Is This the END of Grand Slam Track?

The Grand Slam Track looked like a smooth ride until now…however, the wheels have started to come off! The first three slams: Kingston, Miami, and Philly, went on as planned. But the final one that was scheduled in LA for June 28- 29th, now stands cancelled, hinting at some serious trouble in the GST paradise.....
Well, Michael Johnson confirmed that this was due to economic issues, particularly with the host venue, aka the Drake Stadium in LA. Johnson mentioned that this isn't a "lightly taken" step, but rather a "business decision" taken for the long-term stability of the league. Also, this isn’t the end, as Johnson has promised a comeback in 2026, while remarking that the GST 2025 has "successfully achieved" its objectives! However, there was one man who had fired warnings since the very beginning…
Yup, Noah Lyles always had his doubts about the GST! He never joined it as he was unsure of its ability to market him. Meanwhile, athletes like Sydney McLaughlin used the GST to push their limits. Here’s a refresher of Sydney’s 400 mH GST dominance! Not just this, Lyles had also pointed out the lack of big sponsors and GST's “unsustainable” model, predicting that they will fail to make money.....It turns out that Lyles' speculations have come true. And many have come forward post-LA cancellation to take a jab…
Just watch how Fred Kerley clapped back at GST’s shutdown. Also, GST alone isn’t in trouble! The New York Grand Prix, set for June 21, has been called off. Since the LA Grand Prix was close to the GST LA, it was also cancelled as hosting two big meets in LA within three weeks wasn’t doable. And it isn’t the end, as the Bermuda Grand Prix was also scratched after an investor pulled out. While GST is in talks with new investors, the sport has definitely taken a blow this week!

Coleman’s NCAA Record May Be in Danger!

Collegiate track and field has been in full swing this week, especially for the footballer turned track sensation, Jordan Anthony, who just delivered a mega win. The audience at the NCAA Outdoors watched in awe as Anthony flew out of lane 9 in the men's 100m finals and left the competition in the dust, clocking a blazing 10.07 seconds time....With this, he literally flipped the script over after his slow fourth in the semifinals on June 11. Watch Jordan Anthony’s title-winning sprint below…
Let’s just say speed is in his nerves in 2025! After all, just days ago, Anthony had clocked 9.75s in the quarterfinals, which would have been the fastest time in the world this year, if it were wind legal. Also, he is the SEC outdoor 100 and 200m double champ who lifted the crown last month in just 9.95 seconds. In fact, he is also the NCAA indoor 60m champ. So this isn't a one-time hit, clearly. And now some big names are noticing him!
Just before the NCAA Champs kicked off, sprint icon Christian Coleman gave Anthony a shoutout. “Salute to Jordan Anthony! I’ve been watching his journey, and he deserves to take down that 100m record.” PS: This 100m record belongs to Coleman himself, set at 9.82s in 2017. And honestly, if Anthony keeps up this pace, the record might not be Coleman's for much longer!

She Did What No One Could in 35 Years!

It’s not every day that you see a 35-year-old record being broken. But Michaela Rose just achieved it on Thursday, at the NCAA Outdoor champs! Rose ran in the women's 800-meter semifinals, where she wasn’t just the fastest in the field, clocking 1:58.95, but she also shattered Suzy Favor's NCAA Meet Record of 1:59.11s from 1990. Watch how Rose shattered the record like it was her everyday business!
For Rose, this moment must have felt like sweet redemption. Just last July, she missed her ticket to the Paris Olympics by one spot, finishing fourth in the U.S. Olympic Trials 800m final. That loss must have stung, but Rose knows how to fight with all the athleticism in her DNA. After all, her Jamaican dad and her mom both competed at Auburn. Also, she has been racing and beating her older brother at hill sprints since she was six! And her 2025 season…
Rose has been on fire! Just last month, she clocked her personal best, 1:58.12, which is now the second-fastest time ever by a collegiate woman. Also, she's run six outdoor 800m races this season and has won ALL! So as she heads into today’s final, we hope she redeems her last year's NCAA loss where she finished fourth. Because with the way she’s been running this season, an NCAA title looks within reach!
