There was no shortage of history in Tokyo tonight…

Mondo Duplantis did it again! He cleared 6.30m on his final attempt to break his 14th Pole Vault World Record, his fourth just this year. The stadium erupted as he made history before sprinting straight to hug his competitor Karalis and then into the stands to celebrate with his family! Watch his historic leap below…

But there was more to remember tonight. In the women’s Hammer Throw final, an 80.51m winning throw not only helped Camryn Rogers take down the Canadian record, but also the area record and climb to the #2 spot on the all-time list. Oh, and she’s the first Canadian ever to defend a World Athletics individual title!

History was also made for Switzerland tonight! As Ditaji Kambundji stormed to her first international title in the women’s 100m hurdles, clocking a 12.24 national record and grabbing the country’s first-ever gold in the event. Meanwhile, Masai Russell finished fourth and missed the podium entirely!

Athlete: Julien Alfred has confirmed her withdrawal from the women’s 200m event due to a grade one hamstring strain in her right leg.
Official Statement: “Last night, I was super healthy and right when I did my last block start, I felt a cramp in my hamstring. Right then, I panicked...But I’m glad I made the decision to go out there and run. I have a medal to show for it that I’m a hard worker and tough.”
Odds of return: Alfred is out of the Worlds and won’t be returning this season.
