Noah Lyles Returns!

As we inch closer to the World Champs in September, the reigning 200m World Champion has made an unexpected announcement. And mind you, it’s not just anything!

While we were hoping to see him hit the track on July 19 at the London DL, he decided to throw in a surprise.....On July 8, Noah Lyles revealed that he’ll be running his 200m season debut at the Monaco Diamond League on Friday, July 11, that too against his long-time rival, Letsile Tebogo.. Also, it would be Lyles' first race in the last 3 months, after an ankle discomfort forced him to pull out of the Atlanta City Games. So what can we expect?

Well, honestly, it can go anywhere! He is returning to the Stade Louis-II track after three years…Back in the 2022 Monaco meet, he clocked the second-fastest time of the year, 19.46s, to win 200m! Don’t remember? Watch Lyles break his own meet record in 2022! There’s no doubt, he would want to touch that mark again! Also, for the past six years, Lyles has remained unbeaten in the 200m at the Diamond League!

Other signs are looking good, too! He shared snippets of his injury recovery, and thus, he seems to be back in shape! But there’s a big hurdle standing between him and his undefeated streak: Letsile Tebogo. What kind of drama will he bring to this race? Scroll down to story 2 for the preview….

Monaco Diamond League Clashes You Can’t Miss!

Before the World Championships in September, athletes just got a few meets to test themselves, and Monaco is undoubtedly one of those. So expect nothing less than fireworks!

Men's 200m- Well, well, well, after an 11-month wait, Noah Lyles will go against the 200m Olympic champion, Letsile Tebogo. Missed their last showdown in Paris? Catch all the action below! Their head-to-head in the 200m stands at 2-2, so this could go either way. But Tebogo may have a slight edge, having raced more this season and recently clocking a world lead at the Prefontaine. Also, there are more threats in the field: world #3 Alexander Ogando, Jereem Richards, and Makanakaishe Charamba!

Men's 110m hurdles- Another must-watch event is Grant Holloway facing a loaded field including Trey Cunningham, Cordell Tinch, and Dylan Beard. Interestingly, Holloway has lost to all three in 2025! His knee injury, after the indoor season, has cost him every outdoor race this year. That's quite unlike the Olympic champ we know....

Women's 100m- Julien Alfred just suffered a tough 100m loss at the Pre-Classic, ending her five-month-long win streak, so she must be eyeing nothing but the top spot. But the Jamaican twins, Tia and Tina Clayton, will challenge Alfred. Tia is #6 on the 2025 world list, while Tina became the 2025 Jamaican champion with 10.81s. On another note, Americans Jacious Sears, Aleia Hobbs, and Maia McCoy will also look to improve their times, hoping for a spot at the Worlds!

Women's 100mH- Keep an eye out for the Olympic champion, Masai Russell. After two months out with an ankle injury, she returned to the track at the Prefontaine Classic but finished fourth. Disappointment! So, can the athlete who set a 12.17s American record bounce back? If she does, it will be a great boost! But don't expect it to be easy because Paris finalists Devynne Charlton, Grace Stark, Nadine Visser, are coming too!

But hey, this isn’t it, folks! More drama is expected — head to story 3!

🎖️ Beyond The Medals

World Record on Watch in Monaco!

Get set for even more fiery clashes on Friday…

Men's Pole Vault- Get ready, because the Paris trio: Mondo Duplantis, Sam Kendricks, and Manolo Karalis will all compete in Monaco. EJ Obiena, the two-time global medalist, is also coming, but his form has been dicey this year. Also in 2023, Mondo missed the podium in Monaco, so he must be looking for redemption. After all, Monaco is the same field where he won in 2020. Missed it? Watch Mondo’s 6m vault here!

Men’s 800m- With seven Paris Olympic finalists coming to Monaco, neither the world nor meet record will be safe. But the spotlight is on: Emmanuel Wanyonyi, the reigning Olympic champion, and the first man to go sub-1:42 in Stockholm. However, Marco Arop, unbeaten in the 800m this season and Wanyonyi’s conqueror in Kingston, is a fan favorite too. Djamel Sedjati, the Paris bronze medalist, remains a threat—so does Bryce Hoppel, Mohamed Attaoui, Gabriel Tual, and Josh Hoey: all in the world’s top seven. Thus, 800m is a must-watch!

Women's 400m- The key athlete to watch here is Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino. After all, she remains undefeated in 400m at the Diamond League since July 2023 and also won three back-to-back 400m races in 2025. But she does have strong opposition from Olympic bronze medalist Natalia Bukowiecka, Rhasidat Adeleke, and NCAA champion Aaliyah Butler!

Women's 400m hurdles- If there’s one favorite we’re missing here, it’s Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. Otherwise, this field promises a thriller! With Femke Bol, Olympic silver medalist Anna Cockrell, and Dalilah Muhammad in the lineup, we’ll be on the edge of our seats for this one. Can Bol top Cockrell and avenge her Paris loss? It’s possible, after all, she’s the world #2 this season! Dalilah must also be eyeing the win after all this is her final season!

Thus, don’t miss a moment on Friday, July 11 at 12:55 p.m. ET—stream live on the Wanda Diamond League YouTube channel. In the U.S.? Watch it LIVE on FloTrack!
