Since last September, Nina Kennedy had been out of competitions due to her injury. Yet as the reigning pole vault champion, she had a bye straight into Worlds. But sadly, she still hasn't recovered and the same injury has now forced her to pull out, ending her chance to defend the title. But this feels tougher because she could have become the first Australian female pole vaulter and fourth all-time to win back-to-back World Championship golds. That chance has now slipped from her hands too.
