Quincy Wilson Reclaimed His Crown!

For over 2 months, there was NO sign of Quincy Wilson on the outdoor circuit….He last ran a 400m on April 4! But this weekend, when the NB Nationals Outdoor Championship 2025 returned on June 21, Wilson took a shot at his sixth back-to-back New Balance 400m title. And guess what?
On Saturday at Franklin Field, Wilson ran his second 400m outdoor race of the season against his popular rival, Andrew Salvodon, and…. In just 29 seconds, Wilson pulled ahead of the pack and went on to finish first, clocking 45.37. He was nearly a full second faster than the field and 1.1s ahead of Salvodon, who came fourth. And just like that, Wilson not only retained his title from 2024 but is now undefeated at the New Balance 400m event for 3 years in a row! Watch Wilson's 400m domination here!
With this win, Wilson also smashed all the doubts against him! Before he started the race, a fan underestimated him: “Quincy, you're about to get rolled.” Well, his reputation this season slightly wobbled after he began with a tough loss to Salvodon at the VA Showcase. He had yet another crushing 600m loss at the Millrose Games, followed by a 400m podium miss at the USA Indoors, fueling whispers that he'd lost his mojo. But he silenced them all yesterday...
After all, this was Wilson's second-fastest 400m time this season, despite being on break! So yeah, with a little bit of work on his start, Wilson believes he can go way faster. But for now, it's 5 of 6 wins in the 400m in 2025, which isn’t bad at all!

A Star Walks Away from Nigeria!

Allegiance switches have been all over the news this week after two Jamaican throwers, Roje Stona and Rajindra Campbell, moved to Turkey. But it did not stop with them….
Now, Favor Ofili is reportedly switching from Nigeria to Turkey! This is indeed a big loss for Nigeria... After all, just last month, Ofili made the women's 150m straight World Record at the Atlanta City Games. But now this talent is packing her bags and preparing to move out! Watch her insane 150m WR run below!
But why? Well, the reason seems to be clear: Frustration with the Nigerian Athletics Federation! 4 years ago, the federation showed negligence in not confirming her number of doping control tests, causing Ofili to miss the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Again, she wasn’t able to compete in the 100m at the 2024 Paris Olympics due to an administrative error. An investigative committee was set, but it came to a recommendation that she be compensated with $5000 and an apology letter! Anyone would be disappointed!
And now? Nigeria's reaction: "If this is true, it is sad, disheartening and painful…" After all, Ofili was their star athlete. Well, she is the fastest 200m Nigerian woman ever and Africa's second fastest. Even this season, Ofili has had podium finishes in eight out of her 9 races. She is also one of the top 10 200m runners in the world currently. So yes, it's a shocker exit for NGR!

This 8th Grader Just Wiped Quincy’s Record!

The next time you say, ‘There's no one like Quincy Wilson,’ think twice! Because this weekend, while Wilson was busy showing his greatness at the New Balance Nationals, on the exact same day, an 8th grader, Brandon LaFell Jr., was busy wiping the slate clean, replacing Wilson's record with his own! Let’s set the scene…
At the 2025 Adidas Track Nationals this weekend, Brandon broke Wilson's Middle School Division 400m record, clocking a mind-blowing 49.55s. Thus, lowering the previous record (49.65s) held by Wilson by 0.10s. Interestingly, there was no one in sight behind Brandon near the finish line, as he was the only runner who dipped sub-50! Watch how this primary school boy surpassed Quincy Wilson’s record!
While sub-50s is a benchmark that most high schoolers chase, aren’t you wondering how Brandon is doing it in the 8th grade? Well, sports are in his genes! Brandon's father, Brandon LaFell Sr., was himself a footballer who played 9 NFL seasons and even won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots. Like father, like son, even Brandon LaFell Jr has already got his first football offer! But that's not it… Brandon even plays basketball! After all, his goal is, "To win a football, basketball, and track state championship, graduate, and earn a D1 scholarship." Clearly, his athleticism is just something else!
