It’s been a busy weekend across the US sports scene. A figure skating pair successfully defended their national title, but securing the final Olympic berth will require more waiting, this time not for competition results, but for an entirely different factor. More on that below.

BREAKING FROM THE TRACK
At the Texas High School Indoor Championships yesterday, January 9, in Bryan–College Station, Tate Taylor put on another dominant performance. Representing the Texas Titans, he won the Boys 200m final in 20.85 seconds, setting both a Meet Record (MR) and a Facility Record (FR).
This follows an outstanding 2025 season, during which Tate set the national indoor 200m record (20.46) and the national high school 100m record (9.92). However, just last week, on January 4, 2026, Taylor officially announced his commitment to run for Texas Tech University.

Yesterday, January 9, marked a big opening night for Week 2 of the NCAA gymnastics season, with several top-ranked programs in action across the country in dual and quad meets. No. 3 Florida made a powerful statement in its home opener, dominating the competition with an impressive return from Kayla DiCello.
