Sabrina Dockery: World Lead One Day, DQ’d the Next!

My my! Sabrina Dockery, take a bow! Last time, we were over the moon about her performance at the Jamaican Champs. 11.12s in the 100m semis. But she wasn’t done showing off. Hours later, in the Class 1 Girls' 100m Final, she put on a masterclass, dropping a blistering 11.08s to snatch the title. That made her the second-fastest winner in event history (right behind Alana Reid), the 5th fastest Jamaican junior ever, and—oh yeah—she also laid down the fastest U20 time in the world this year. Watch her dust the competition here. This was just the start.
The 200m was next, and Dockery looked primed for another show. She breezed through the heats with 23.22s, locked in for the semis, and then—Drama!
Two false starts. Two red cards. Two disqualifications. And Dockery, gone. Shevi-Anne Shim, gone. Just like that. If this felt like déjà vu, that’s because it was.
Last year, in the Class 2 200m final, Dockery suffered the same gut-wrenching fate. Cameras caught her walking off, shoulders slumped, crushed. Here’s more on the heartbreaking moment. But Lacovia High wasn’t about to let this slide. They protested. So did Shim. And guess what—The Jury of Appeals flipped the decision!
But there was a catch. Dockery and Shim had to run sub-24.30s in a special re-run to earn back their spots. Despite all the pressure, Dockery clocked 23.88s, clinched 7th place, and just like that—her double-title dreams were back on. But after all this drama, can she pull off one more magic trick in the final?

Pain Couldn’t Stop Gary Card’s Title Charge!

We had pure drama unfold at the Jamaican School Champs, and let’s just say—Gary Card wasn’t about to go down without a fight.
The 17-year-old stepped up for the Class 1 boys’ 100m semi-finals and delivered an absolute masterclass—blazing through in 10.06s. That wasn’t just fast, that was jet fuel fast. The second-place finisher? Nowhere close, trailing by 0.33 seconds. Yep, Gary ran like he was on nitro boosters! A new personal best, indeed. Here’s a refresher for you!
But Gary had only one thing on his mind—the junior 9.99s record. And then came the final. This was it. The moment.
Out of the blocks—perfection; 50 meters—Unstoppable. But then—disaster struck. A shift in his stride. A wince. Something was off. A mild quadriceps strain, and suddenly, it was all about survival. The pain was visible all over his face, but giving up was not in his playbook. He gritted his teeth, pushed through, and still—STILL—crossed the line first in 10.28s! No record. But a gutsy title win for you to watch!
And then, right after, he collapsed. Flat on the track. His leg, Spent. But in a beautiful moment of sportsmanship, Shaquane Gordon—who finished 5th—walked over to check on him for a handshake and a pat on the back. Just pure respect. (See that below!) Gary was done for the night. Withdrew from 200m, meaning no double title. But… he’s now sitting at #2 in the U20 world rankings—ahead of Gout Gout. Just brutal!

The 60m world leader, Lachlan Kennedy, just tripled his usual distance and took down the year’s fastest 200m sprinter, Gout Gout, at the Maurie Plant Meet! Stunned? So are we! With Tebogo out, this was supposed to be Gout’s moment. Instead, the man known for devouring the final meters had nothing left to chew. Was it the biggest upset of the season? America’s Golden Relay Phase Begins With New Coach?

We’ve got a real shake-up in the U.S. relay scene, folks! Team USA’s relay dominance has been untouchable in recent years—4 out of 5 golds at Budapest 2023, and another 3 at Paris 2024. But just when it looked like the dynasty was set in stone, the USATF decided to drop the hammer, parting ways with relay masterminds Mike Marsh and Michelle Freeman.
Now, let’s not sugarcoat it—Freeman was a game-changer. Just rewind to Oregon 2022, when the U.S. women took down Jamaica’s superstar trio. That was her blueprint. Here's a recap of that epic relay battle! And now? She’s out, and fans were left wondering: Who’s stepping in? And can they even keep this thing afloat?
Well, wonder no more—because on March 28, USATF officially handed the relay keys to Darryl Woodson. Yep, he’s the new sheriff in town, and his job? Keep Team USA’s relay gold machine running full throttle all the way to LA 2028. And here’s the kicker—he’s already proving he’s got what it takes. At the 2025 World Indoors in Nanjing, both the men’s and women’s 4x400m squads blew the competition away. The man behind the magic—Woodson. So, Who Is This Guy?
🏅 2X Olympic Coach (Assistant in Tokyo & Paris)
🏆 11 U.S. National Titles under his watch
🥇 30+ Global Medals earned by his athletes
Let’s be real—this wasn’t just a coaching hire; it was a course correction. Because as much as Team USA has been stacking gold, they’ve also had their fair share of facepalm moments. Need a reminder? The men’s 4x100m disaster in Paris. Even sprint legend Carl Lewis called for a system overhaul. And now, here we are.
With LA 2028 looming, Woodson now holds the reins on some of the biggest names in the sport—Gabby Thomas, Sydney McLaughlin, Noah Lyles, Christian Coleman, and more. The talent is there. The pressure? Massive. Now, the real question is: Can Woodson handle the heat and keep Team USA’s relay empire intact?

That’s it for today, folks! We’ll look to knock on your inbox soon with more interesting stories!
