This Teen Is Hunting Sydneyâs Throne!

They say records are made to be brokenâand sure, most are. But Sydney McLaughlinâs? Now thatâs a whole different beast. Yet, on Saturday night at the always-wild Arcadia Invitational, the high school track world felt a seismic shift. In lane five, an 11th grader from North Cobb ran a 39.81s in the 300m hurdlesâand nearly chased down Sydney McLaughlin-Levroneâs long-standing high school record. Did you miss this epic run? Here, we have got you covered!
This time made her only the second girl in Arcadia history to break 40 and brought her within 0.91 seconds of McLaughlinâs 38.90 national high school record! To set some perspective, hereâs a recap of the record set at this very meet back in 2017. But Jasmine still isnât impressed with herself just yet. âIâm still coming for Sydney,â she said afterward. Bold? Sure! And⌠why not! If you noticed, her race wasnât even perfect!
Coming off the final hurdle, Jasmine lost momentum, stumbling just enough to miss what she thinks couldâve been the race. âThat last hurdle kind of doubled me up there,â she admitted after the meet. Yup! Without that hiccup, Sydneyâs record mightâve just had its final day in the sun. Just two weeks ago at the Texas Relays, she ran a 40.12. Now, sheâs blown past that with a lifetime best. ButâŚ.Whatâs crazier?
Track wasnât even her first love. She spent 12 years in gymnastics before shifting lanes, and somehow, this is her second act? And if you're into sports quirks, hereâs one: Jasmine swears by a superstition. If her nail breaks before a race, sheâs running a PR. Did one break this weekend? Nobody knows. But after Saturday, letâs just say weâre not betting against it!

Sorry, Noah Lyles, Arrington is Taking Over!

The Arcadia Invitational delivered this Saturday! This time, it was the teenage rocket, Brandon Arrington. On the Californian track, this 16-year-old blitzed the 200m in 20.35 seconds. His closest competitor? 0.73 seconds behind. Thatâs not a gapâthatâs a whole parking spot! But the real âdid he really just do that?â moment?
He broke Noah Lylesâ meet record! Yup. 20.48âa mark the Olympic king and world champ had stamped down way back in 2016. Watch Arrington's Arcadia 200m domination below!
This kid oozes confidence. After the race, he laughed and said, "My bad, Noah Lyles. I didnât mean to do it to you. But eh, Iâm coming!" Mic drop? Oh, absolutely! He even received a response from the champ himself: âNever apologise for creating history! Congratulations đ.â Watch Lylesâ record that stood tall for 9 years... until Brandon happened. In case youâre thinking this was a fluke⌠It wasnât!
Brandonâs been rolling this season! Just 12 days earlier, at the Mt. Carmel Invite, he clocked a 20.37âalready a US No.1 and California No.2 all-time. And on the same day? He casually dropped a 10.24 in the 100m. Boomâtwo San Diego section records in one afternoon. Oh, and trackâs not even his only sport!
Brandonâs also a football phenom at Mount Miguel High. His speed⌠letâs just say defenders donât stand a chance! He outruns angles like itâs nothing. Thatâs why the kidâs sitting pretty with 40+ scholarship offers!

American Iconâs Throw Finally LandsâAfter 3 Decades of Wait!

Weâve seen some amazing throws in track and field over the years, but what went down in Oklahoma this weekend was straight-up historic! At the Oklahoma Throws Series World Invitational, Valarie Allmanâyes, the 2x Olympic champâsent a discus soaring 73.52 meters! Thatâs not just a new PR or a casual meet win. Thatâs a record-shattering bomb! The crazy part?
Last month, at this same event, Allman barely managed 63.61m. Her worst mark in six years. She left, questioning if she even belonged at this meet. But turns out her latest throw crushed her previous lifetime best and U.S. record of 71.46m from 2022. Watch her launch the discus in another galaxy!
Oh, and by the way? That throw was the farthest by any woman in 36 years. Thatâs right. Not since 1989 has anyone launched a discus this far. We're talking top-5-all-time territory here. And letâs not sugarcoat itâthis wasnât just about distance. This was about a woman who had something to prove.
Since winning gold in Tokyo, Allman hasnât had it easy. She dropped to third at Worlds in 2022. Then second in 2023. The cameras caught her smile, sureâbut behind the scenes? She was carrying the crushing weight of Olympic expectations. In her own words: "I think the last two years, I just felt pressure and I lost that excitement to go for it.â
Well, with Paris being a step toward redemption, this Oklahoma monster throw was her full-circle comeback moment, stating Iâm not done yet. From doubting the top 15 to becoming one of the top 5 in world history, Valarie Allman didnât just show upâshe showed out!

Thatâs it for today, folks! Weâll look to knock on your inbox soon with more interesting stories!
