A former state champion and respected record keeper's loss has left a void.

The women’s 100m is shaping up to be one of the toughest calls. On one side are veterans like Shelly-Ann and Shericka, who nobody dares to count out. On the other hand are stars like Melissa and Julien, who together own 9 of the fastest 100m times this year. And then there are the debutants, Tina Clayton and Kayla White. With a competitive lineup like this, predicting the top 3 feels quite difficult. Just see the list of competitors and you’ll know...

Did You Know

However, did you know the women's 100m this time has immense history at stake? Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is chasing an unprecedented sixth Worlds 100m title, while Melissa is looking for her very first Worlds medal in an individual event. Julien Alfred might aim for that rare Olympic + World champion double, and Ta Lou Smith, who already has a Worlds silver and bronze, will be chasing her first gold. As for Tina Clayton, this will be her first Worlds so any spot on the podium will be historic in itself. Thus, no matter who takes the crown, the 100m is bound to make history.
