Did You Know

Did you know the athlete scooping out water, Tajay Gayle, was the one who managed to grab bronze with his 7.71m jump. While all the jumpers chose to skip the final round, Gayle was the only one who went ahead, but couldn’t record a legal jump. Afterward, he even joked that he felt like “Dash Parr” for running on water. But, jokes aside, this moment raises serious concerns. Since the conditions were very dangerous, performing meant risking an injury just days before the Worlds. The women’s pole vault was outright canceled, and many retired early from the women's high jump, too. Still, it was the long jump that went on.
