Looks like the New York City Marathon just got even more exciting! Kenenisa Bekele, the 5000m short track world record holder and distance running veteran has officially joined the lineup. It will be his first race of the year and he’ll be going up against Eliud Kipchoge, the two-time Olympic marathon champion. Kipchoge holds the upper hand in their past matchups, but this time? It will be thrilling to see who wins!
Big news from the New York City Marathon.
Kenenisa Bekele has joined the men's elite field and will once again face Eliud Kipchoge over 26.2 miles.
The 43-year-old hasn't competed in 2025 yet and his last marathon was a DNF in Valencia back in December.
