Worlds Day 3 Starts on a Bittersweet Note

September 15, 2025 | Edition #242
👋 Hey, Speedster!
Day 3 at the World Championships opened with the men’s marathon, and it was one for the history books. We’ve also got an injury update from the morning session, plus a recap of Day 2, which honestly felt like a movie. But first, know what the latest update is with Julien Alfred after Day 2 ended..

Julien Alfred May Be Forced Out of Worlds Midway |
Concerns loom over Alfred's Worlds journey after something that happened in the 100m final. |

Men’s Pole Vault Final: 7:10 a.m. ET
There’s no doubt about who’s the absolute favorite for this event. Its Mondo Duplantis, the man who has broken the world record thrice in 2025 alone. Hopefully, Emmanouil Karalis has a good day on the field too, as we think he’s a strong contender for the silver. Clearing the 6m mark 11 times this season is no small feat, and if he’s on his game, he’ll be the one to look out for. Even in the qualifying round, he cleared through Group A by touching the 5.75m mark, equal to Duplantis’ qualifying height. Just watch Duplantis’ qualifying jump below…
Armand ”Mondo” Duplantis 5.75 😅. Hur högt över är detta??? #Mondo#duplantis

As for bronze, Sam Kendricks, the reigning Olympic silver medalist, looks like the strongest pick to round out the podium.

Women’s 100m Hurdles Final: 9.20 a.m. ET
The evening session today promises yet another stacked event final. And at the top of our picks for the podium is Masai Russell, after all, she’s the reigning Olympic Champion after all. And she set the American record in the event back in April. But she won’t have it easy, with Diamond League champ Ackera Nugent expected to be right on her heels. And for bronze, it could go either way between world record holder Tobi Amusan and Grace Stark. Still, given the season Stark’s had, we’re leaning toward her to round out the podium.
